About this Spot
Mullawarra is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia, known for its consistent waves and variety of breaks. Situated between the Arrawarra and Mullaway headlands, Mullawarra is often overlooked by surfers who prefer the more popular breaks nearby. However, it offers a range of surfing experiences suitable for all levels. The spot features both left and right waves, with a sandy and rocky bottom. The best conditions are during low to medium tide, and it can be surfed in most swell and wind directions. At the southern end of the beach, you’ll find a right-hand point break that works well on large southwest swells. The northern end features a punchy left known as the Wedge, which breaks in front of rocks. In the center of the beach, there’s a nice beach break accessible by car. Mullawarra is a well-known beach among locals, and while it is generally uncrowded, it’s important to show respect to the local surfers in the water. Early morning with a low incoming tide is often the best time to surf here. To reach Mullawarra, turn off the Pacific Highway at Mullaway, take the first left, follow Arrawarra Road, and then take Headland Road. If the wind is from the south, take a right-hand turn; if it’s from the north, follow Arrawarra to the end. Be aware of rips and undertows, and keep an eye out for sharks. Always check your skills before paddling out to ensure the conditions match your surfing level. Additionally, familiarize yourself with surf etiquette, especially in crowded spots. Respect the locals.
