About this Spot

Little Avalon is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia. Known for its right-hand waves, this surf spot features a coral reef bottom, making it a regional classic for intermediate surfers. The waves at Little Avalon are fun to surf in 2-4ft swell, but as they get bigger, prior experience is recommended. The spot is less than 50 meters in length and can get crowded, with a lineup rarely exceeding 20 people. Localism is present, so it’s important to respect the locals and follow surf etiquette. The spot is suitable for bodyboards and shortboards, drawing comparisons to Shark Island on its best days. Little Avalon is accessible by driving into the south Avalon Surf Life Saving Club car park and looking southeast of the surf club, about 400 meters off the pool. The surf spot is very consistent, with the best conditions at medium and high tides. Nearby surf spots include Gregs Point, Bilgola Bank, North Avalon, Bowles, and Newport Deadies.
