Fuzzies is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia, known for its right-hand waves breaking over a sand and rock bottom. This spot is situated near Newcastle Beach, Flatrock, Bar Reef, Bar Beach Newcastle, and Nobbys Beach. Fuzzies is a rarely surfed spot, offering an uncrowded experience, which is a refreshing change from the busier beaches nearby. The waves at Fuzzies are generally of normal quality and are best suited for intermediate surfers. The spot can hold waves up to 3 feet, with anything larger becoming challenging and somewhat unsurfable. On rare occasions, under perfect conditions, Fuzzies can produce waves reaching 6 to 8 feet, providing a thrilling ride for a good 50+ meters into a massive closeout. However, surfers should be cautious of exposed rocks at lower tides and a rip current that can push them towards the rocks. The wave length is typically less than 50 meters, and the spot breaks sometimes, depending on the swell and tide conditions. Surfers can access Fuzzies by heading to Newcastle Beach, walking south until reaching the skatepark, and paddling out through South Newcastle Beach, continuing south until almost reaching the rocky point.
