About this Spot

Isolators is a surf spot located in South West Australia, Australia. This spot is known for its coral reef and sand bottom, providing both left and right waves. The wave quality is considered normal, and it is suitable for surfers of all levels. The spot is very consistent, with waves typically less than 50 meters in length. However, it can get crowded, so it’s important to check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots. The area is known for its rips and undertow, and there are rocks present, so surfers should be cautious. Localism is a factor here, so respecting the locals is crucial. Additionally, there is a presence of sharks in the area. On a good day with a 2.5-3 meter swell, the wave holds up well, providing a great opportunity for practicing carving for both bodyboarders and surfers. The reef is usually crowded with locals, so if it’s too packed, you can try Rabbits, which is the reef just left of Isolators. Rabbits is a powerful and dangerous wave, more suitable for bodyboarders. Isolators is generally an easy wave, but it can crumble on big swells and close out on normal swells. Barrels are rare but can occur briefly. To reach the spot, walk from the car park to the lookout, and from there, Isolators is the next reef next to Rabbits. It’s important to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Remember to respect the locals.
