Caves is suitable for intermediate surfers due to its normal wave quality and the need to navigate the rocky areas. The waves here are less than 50 meters in length, and the spot is generally uncrowded, offering a more solitary surfing experience. To access Caves, you can park at the Blue Bay carpark and walk down the beach to the takeout north of Blue Bay. Paddle out between the big rocks on the beach and the lookout to reach the surf spot. It’s important to stay away from the rocks north of the break. The spot is best surfed during storms when the waves peak about 150-200 meters off the beach, creating a challenging shore break close-out. Nearby surf spots include Sidewinders, Roberts Point, Dotties, Hunchies Bay, and Sucky Lefts. When planning your visit, be sure to check the surf forecast and report for the latest conditions.
