Overview
About this Spot
Shelly Beach is a surf spot located in Queensland, Australia, and is one of the six beaches along the Caloundra coastline. Known for its rock pools, Shelly Beach is home to over 20 different marine species, including blue periwinkles, black sea cucumbers, sea hares, and rose barnacles. The beach offers a unique surfing experience with both left and right waves, suitable for surfers of all levels. The waves break over a combination of rocks and sand, and the best conditions are at medium to high tide. Although the beach doesn’t fire as often as other spots, when it does, you can enjoy the waves with minimal crowds. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, and it’s mostly shore breaks. Access to the beach is available via William Street, Ocean Court, or Victoria Terrace, with parking facilities nearby. While the beach is less crowded, it’s important to check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots. Always check your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions match your surfing level. Respect the locals.
