The beach break can get barreling at high tide, but conditions can vary greatly, ranging from flat to six-foot waves. The bottom is sandy, and the spot works on all tides. While the crowd is generally empty, it can get busy on weekends during high tide, with up to 150 surfers on a good day. The spot is shark protected, and the locals are friendly. To reach Farnborough, head north from Yeppoon on Farnborough Road, turn right before Rydges Resort, and continue to Bangalee. From there, access the beach with a 4×4 vehicle and follow the trail to the Big Dune Surfing Reserve. Nearby surf spots include Kemp Beach and Great Keppel Island.
