Overview
About this Spot
Booma is a surf spot located in South Australia, Australia. This spot provides both left and right waves. The bottom consists of sand and rocks, and it is best surfed at low and medium tides. The quality of the waves is considered a regional classic, making it suitable for intermediate surfers. The waves break regularly, with a length of less than 50 meters. Booma is known for being relatively uncrowded, providing a more relaxed surfing experience. Nearby surf spots include Bullies, Chiton Rocks, Horseshoe Bay, Dump, and Knights. The spot is situated between Knights and Bullies, over the train tracks, making it easy to find. There is a deep reef about 100 meters off the beach, creating a left and right peak. Sometimes, a good steep bowl forms on the left, which is nice and fast but short. Surfers are advised to pull out before the shorebreak unless they are bodyboarders. The reef is too deep to break on smaller swells or higher tides. It is suggested that an artificial reef could enhance the surfing experience by extending the reef. When visiting Booma, it is important to check the surf forecast, report, and map to ensure optimal conditions. Additionally, surfers should be aware of the surf etiquette, especially when the spot is crowded. Always check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals.
