Santa Maria is a surf spot located in the Bay Area, California. The spot features a sand and rock bottom and it’s know to work best at high tide. The length of the ride is usually less than 50 meters and it is suitable for all levels, including beginners (nevertheless always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions match your level). Boards commonly used here include beginner boards and softboards, shortboards, mid and retro boards, and longboards. The best conditions for surfing at Santa Maria are with a south or southwest swell, a minimum swell height of 2 feet, and wind coming from the north or northeast. The spot provides both left and right waves. Respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and always follow surf etiquette to keep things friendly in the water. Santa Maria is located near other surf spots like Sunny Cove, Blacks, 26th Ave, Murph Bar, and Rockview Street. For access, head down 17th Ave towards Sunny Cove, continue onto E Cliff, and then go down 21st Ave.
