The best swell direction comes from the east, while the optimal wind direction is from the west. The spot is suitable for surfers of all experience levels, but it’s important to check your skills before paddling out to ensure the conditions match your abilities. D-Country is rarely crowded, offering a more secluded surfing experience. The spot sometimes breaks, with wave lengths typically less than 50 meters. Sea temperatures in the area are generally warm, averaging around 23.3°C (74°F). The summer months, particularly July, often provide the best conditions for clean, surfable waves. However, it’s always advisable to check the surf forecast and report before heading out. To reach D-Country, drive through St. Augustine towards Crescent Beach and look for Dondanville Road. Take this road to the beach. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for beach access. Nearby surf spots include Dondanville Road, Ocean Gallery, St Augustine A-Street, Lighthouse, and St. Augustine Beach Pier. Since the hurricanes of 2004, the area towards Crescent Beach has been working well around high tide.
