Overview
About this Spot
Riacho Doce is a surf spot located in Alagoas and Sergipe, Brazil. The spot sits close to Maceió, about 15 minutes by car, and is accessed by taking the road to Paripueira and Barra de Santo Antonio. After passing through Riacho Doce village and the church, you will see two social clubs on the beach. Parking is usually on the side of the road, and access through the club area is restricted, so you may need to walk along the walls to reach the beach. Sometimes, if you are friendly, the local gatekeepers might let you park inside the club area. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. The left is usually faster and gets hollow on the inside, while the right is often smaller but can be longer, giving you space for manoeuvres. The bottom is a mix of sand and rocks, so be careful, especially at low tide when it gets shallow and rocky. Surfing here is best at high tide only. The spot is suitable for all levels, but always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions match your level. The wave is not as hollow or powerful as some nearby spots like New Orleans, making it a good option for beginners, but it can get fun and offer long, clean walls and some barrels when the swell is around 5ft-6ft. Riacho Doce is usually not crowded, but it can get busy when the south coast is flat. Always respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and check the surf etiquette. For the latest surf forecast, report, map, and webcam, check online resources before heading out. Nearby surf spots include New Orleans, Cruz das Almas, Solaris, Rainha, and Pedra Virada.
