About this Spot
Sebastian Inlet is a surf spot located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida, at the border of Brevard and Indian River counties, within the Sebastian Inlet State Park. The spot sits where the Indian River Lagoon meets the Atlantic Ocean, and is known for its consistent surf, especially at the main peaks called First Peak and Monster Hole. First Peak is near the north jetty, while Monster Hole is about a third of a mile off the beach on the south side. The bottom is mostly sand, but there are rocks and some man-made hazards like buoys, so pay attention when paddling out. The spot is not good for beginners, and is best for intermediate and advanced surfers. Boards like shortboards, mid-lengths, and retro boards are commonly used here. The waves break best at low and medium tides, and the spot is known for being crowded, so respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette when the lineup is busy. Localism can be an issue, so be mindful of the vibe in the water. Sharks are present in the area, so stay aware of your surroundings. The surf spot provides right waves. The best conditions are with northeast or east swells, a minimum swell height of 2 feet, and winds from the southwest or west. The length of the ride is usually less than 50 meters. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and the conditions match your level. Nearby surf spots include Monster Hole, Spanish House, Long Point, Duval Street, and Spessard Holland. The area is also popular for fishing, snorkeling, and other outdoor activities. The park is open year-round and has facilities like camping, a boat ramp, and picnic areas.
