About this Spot

Mainstreet Pier is a surf spot located in Atlantic Coast, Florida. The spot provides both left and right waves. It features a sandy bottom and works best with medium tide. Mainstreet Pier is suitable for intermediate surfers and has regular wave frequency. The waves here are typically less than 50m in length. The spot usually sees few surfers in the water. Nearby surf spots include Carpet Muncher, Daytona Beach, Granada, Bicentenial Park, and Ponce Inlet. Surfers should be aware of potential hazards such as rips, undertow, man-made dangers like buoys, and the presence of sharks. The north side of the pier is often considered the best area for surfing. However, there’s a restricted area near a lifeguard tower where surfing is not allowed, which coincidentally has some of the best waves. On good days, the spot can produce thick, tubular waves. The atmosphere is generally laid-back, but it can become more competitive when the surf is good. Some locals, particularly lifeguards, may act territorial. It’s important to respect the locals and follow surf etiquette, especially when the spot gets crowded. Check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. To find the spot, go straight down Mainstreet to the end. Parking can be limited and expensive, so arriving early is advisable. The Main Street Pier extends about 1,000 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, starting at the east end of Main Street, south of the boardwalk. The best surf conditions typically occur when a northeast swell combines with a southwest wind. During summer months, the area can get crowded, particularly with college students. Remember to stay informed about local conditions and always prioritize safety when surfing at Mainstreet Pier.
