On big North or North East swells, the spot can get solid wrap, and with rare light and variable winds, conditions can be excellent. There are nice breaks all along the stretch of outer reef. A fun right can be found near the middle, offering long rides but requiring extensive paddling due to the absence of a channel. Near the two islands, there’s an enjoyable left with a channel. The spot is generally relaxed, with surfers spread out. It’s important to check the surf forecast and report before heading out. When conditions align perfectly, you can have a great session. To access the spot, drive into Lanikai and find a beach access point. Nearby surf spots include Popoia Island, Kalama, Shorebreaks, Dune Circle, and Bellows.
