Praia Santa Barbara is a surf spot located in Eastern Azores, on the northern coast of São Miguel Island, about 5km from Rabo de Peixe and close to the biggest town on the north coast. The spot is also known as Areal de Santa Bárbara. The beach features a mix of sand and rocks on the bottom and stretches for about 1.2 kilometers. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. You can surf here at all tides, and the spot is considered a regional classic with regular wave frequency. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters. Praia Santa Barbara is suitable for all levels, including beginners, and can be surfed with beginner boards, softboards, shortboards, mid and retro boards, and longboards. The spot can get moderate crowds, so respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette, especially when the spot is busy.
