Indicators is a surf spot located in Java, Indonesia, in the region of West Java, near Cimaja and other spots like Sunset, Karang Naya, Karang Haji, and Sawarna. The spot breaks over a coral reef bottom and is best surfed at medium to high tide. The wave at Indicators is powerful and fast, with a length ranging from 50 to 150 meters. The spot is not suitable for beginners, so check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot matches your level. The wave is best for intermediate and advanced surfers, and most people ride shortboards, mid-length, or retro boards here. The surf spot provides right waves. The best conditions are with groundswells from the southwest or west, and the minimum swell height for the spot to work is about 4 feet. The best wind direction is from the northwest, north, or northeast. The frequency of surfable waves is regular, and the crowd is usually moderate, so respect the locals and check the surf etiquette when the spot is crowded. Hazards at Indicators include sea urchins, rips, undertow, pollution, and sharks, so be aware of these before entering the water. The water temperature is warm, around 28.7°C (83°F), so you won’t need a wetsuit. The spot starts working when nearby Cimaja is maxing out, and you can see the waves jacking up from the takeoff at Cimaja. Pollution can be an issue, so keep that in mind.
