About this Spot

Praia do Amado is a surf spot located in Algarve, Portugal. This beach break is known for its consistent waves, providing both left and right rides. Praia do Amado is good for beginners, with easy access to the water and no significant rips up to 6 feet. With a decent swell the waves become hollow and fast. The beach is situated in the middle of the Alentejano natural park, surrounded by hills and cliffs. Despite being crowded, especially during high season, the beach never feels too packed. The surf spot is easily accessible by driving from Sagres to Aljezur on N268, with a junction at Carrapateira leading to a 5-minute drive to the beach. Parking is available near the beach, along with a small bar. The main peaks include a submerged rock in front of the car park and another peak next to the rocks at the end of the beach. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters, and the spot is frequented by surfers using a variety of boards, including beginner and softboards, shortboards, mid and retro boards, and longboards. Check your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions match your level.
