About this Spot

Dumpers is a surf spot located on the Caribbean coast of Panama, on Isla Colón in the Bocas del Toro Archipelago. The spot is known for its steep, powerful left-breaking waves that break over a sharp coral reef. The main break, called Outer Dumpers, offers a quick, hollow ride with a steep drop and a short tube, while Inside Dumpers works on larger swells and provides longer rides with less tubular sections but still requires skill due to its speed and power. The surf spot provides left waves. The bottom is coral reef, so wearing booties is recommended to protect your feet. The best conditions are with northeast swell direction, starting at around 2 feet, and winds from the west. The spot works at medium and high tide. The length of the ride is less than 50 meters. Dumpers is rarely crowded, and the vibe in the water is usually friendly, but always respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded. Check the surf etiquette when the spot is busy. The spot is suitable for intermediate surfers, but always check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Access to Dumpers is relatively easy, with a 10-minute walk from Tesoro Escondido, an eco-lodge and cabinas in Bocas del Toro. You can also take a car or taxi from the main city of Bocas del Toro and drive out on the peninsula, where there are many other surf spots. Nearby surf spots include Punch Reef, Skully’s, Carenerro Point Break, Silver Back, and Bluff. For the latest surf forecast, report, map, and webcam, check reliable surf resources before heading out. Always be aware of the sharp reef and the power of the wave, as sets can appear suddenly and the wave can jack up quickly. Respect the spot and the people in the water.
