Short Sands

Short Sands is a surf spot located in Northwest, Oregon. The spot is situated within Oswald West State Park, approximately 10 miles south of Cannon Beach. This beach break features a sandy bottom and works best on medium to high tides. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. Short Sands is suitable for all levels of surfers and experiences regular wave frequency. The wave length typically ranges from 50 to 150 meters. On most days, the spot sees few surfers in the lineup. Nearby surf spots include Smugglers Cove, Neahkahnie Point, Arcadia, Needles, and Cannon Beach. The beach is set in a beautiful environment, surrounded by mature forest and accessible via several trails. One trail follows Short Sands creek, offering a spectacular view where the creek meets the ocean. The spot is known locally as ‘Short Sands’ and is a popular destination for surfing.
