Thirroul is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia, in the northern seaside suburb of the city of Wollongong. Situated between Austinmer and Bulli, it is approximately 13 kilometers north of Wollongong and 73 kilometers south of Sydney. The surf spot is known for its sandy bottom and provides both left and right waves, making it suitable for surfers of all levels. The best conditions for surfing at Thirroul are during low and medium tides. The waves here are generally less than 50 meters in length, and the spot is known for its very consistent surf. Thirroul is relatively uncrowded, offering a more relaxed atmosphere for surfers. The northern end of the beach is considered the best spot to catch a nice peak when the swell is right. To reach Thirroul, you can take the Princess Highway, and after a set of traffic lights, take the next right and follow the road to the beach. Nearby surf spots include Thirroul Reef, Austinmer Pools, Macauley’s, Austinmer Beach, and Sandon Point.
