Overview
About this Spot
Pleasure Point is a surf spot located in Bay Area, California. The spot sits in Santa Cruz County, between Moran Lagoon and 41st Avenue, and is known for its consistent surf, rocky bottom, and multiple peaks. The main peaks are Sewer Peak, which is the most competitive section at the top of the point, First Peak for shortboards, and Second Peak for longboards. Further down, 38th Ave/Jack’s needs more swell but can offer easy rollers. The spot is popular with all types of surfers, including bodyboarders, shortboarders, and longboarders. The surf spot provides right waves. The length of the ride is between 150 and 300 meters. The area is crowded, especially on weekends, so it’s important to respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette when the spot is busy. Access to the water can be tricky, especially at low tide, with a 100-foot walk through thick kelp, reef holes, sea urchins, and rocks. Getting in and out at high tide also requires care, especially when using the stairs at 34th Street, which can be slippery. The bottom is rocky, and the spot works on all tides, but checking the tide and entry points is recommended. The spot is not good for beginners, and is best for intermediate and advanced surfers. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The surf forecast for Pleasure Point is best with a south or southwest swell, a minimum swell height of 2 feet, and wind from the northwest, north, or northeast. The spot is very consistent. Nearby surf spots include Rockview Street, The Hook, 26th Ave, Privates Beach, and Santa Maria.
