It’s situated between Waimea Bay and Pipeline, known for its powerful waves and challenging conditions. Log Cabins features a coral reef bottom and is considered a world-class break. The spot is suitable for intermediate surfers and is very consistent in terms of wave frequency. The waves are typically less than 50 meters in length. Log Cabins is known for its relatively uncrowded lineup, with few surfers usually present. Nearby spots include Waimea Bay, Rock Piles, Off The Wall, Ehukai, and Backdoor. Surfers should be aware of potential hazards such as rips, undertow, and rocks. The spot is located just down from Rock Piles and may require a paddle of over 20 minutes or boat access. The best time to surf Log Cabins is during the winter months when the North Shore experiences its largest swells, typically from the northwest. The waves can reach up to 30 feet during large swells, providing an exhilarating experience for experienced surfers. The bottom structure is uneven, with flat lava tabletops adjacent to pure sand, which can suddenly reveal sharp rock spikes. It’s worth noting that Log Cabins is also known as a famous tow-in surfing spot, particularly its outer break.
