Overview
About this Spot
Natadola Reef is a surf spot located in Fiji and Islands, Fiji. The spot sits along Fiji’s Coral Coast and features a coral reef bottom. The surf here breaks over both an inner and an outer reef. The inner reef is close to the beach and offers a gentle shore break, which is often used by beginners and bodyboarders. The waves here break over sandy rocks. The outer reef is about 300 meters out and is found on the right side of the island in front of the beach. This reef is usually dry and only works at high tide during full or new moons. The outer reef is known for a spot called Resort Lefts, which is best surfed at high tide and needs a solid southwesterly swell. Access to the outer reef is either by boat or a long paddle from the beach. The surf at Natadola Reef is generally consistent, with the best conditions in the autumn months, especially April, when clean, surfable waves are found most often. The spot provides both left and right waves. The length of the ride is usually less than 50 meters. The spot is not crowded, but you might find a few surfers out, especially when the forecast and report show good conditions. Hazards at Natadola Reef include urchins, rocks, and strong rips or undertow, so always check the map and webcam for current conditions. The spot is considered a regional classic and is suitable for all levels, but the waves only break sometimes, so check the surf report before heading out. Nearby surf spots include Natadola Beach, Mini Cloudbreak, Sigatoka Rivermouth, Cloudbreak, and Restaurants. Always respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and follow surf etiquette. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level.
