Overview
About this Spot
One Palm Point is a surf spot located in Java, Indonesia. The surf spot provides left waves. It’s situated on Panaitan Island, part of the Ujung Kulon National Park in West Java. The spot is known for its long, barreling rides over a shallow coral reef. Surfing here is considered hazardous due to the shallow depth and sharp coral. It’s recommended that surfers wear protective gear to minimize the risk of injury. The wave performs best with swells from the south to southwest, combined with southeasterly offshore winds. Optimal conditions are typically found during mid to high tides. The surf season generally runs from March to November. Access to One Palm Point is challenging due to its remote location. The island is approximately a three-hour boat ride from the coast of West Java, and there are no accommodations on the island itself. Surfers usually reach the spot via boat charters. Given the wave’s power, speed, and the shallow reef, One Palm Point is suitable only for advanced surfers. The take-offs can be late, and the barrels are tight, requiring precise positioning and quick reflexes. The wave’s length and intensity demand a high level of fitness and experience. Check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The spot is marked by a single sentinel palm, which gives it its name. Waves here peel perfectly from outside to inside, barrelling the whole way over a shallow bottom. One Palm Point works best on a good-sized swell, a southeasterly and offshore wind, and at a more medium than low tide. It’s incredibly shallow, so protective gear is strongly advised. The spot can offer rides of 50 to 150 meters in length. One Palm Point is known for its empty lineup, providing a unique surfing experience. Nearby spots include Apocalypse, National Park, Tanjung Lesung, Pasauran, and Pasauran Muara. Remember to respect the locals and check the surf etiquette, especially if the spot becomes crowded. Always check the surf forecast and report before your visit to ensure the best conditions for your surf session.
