Overview
About this Spot
K 365 is a surf spot located in Cape Town, South Africa, on the Cape Peninsula near Misty Cliffs and close to other spots like K 364, Drainpipes, Outer Kom, Inner Kom, and I & J’s. The spot is also known as 365s. The bottom is a coral reef with rocks and loads of kelp, and there are sea urchins in the area. Hazards include sharks, rocks, and thick kelp, especially on the paddle out. The spot is an exposed reef break that offers both left and right waves. The best surf conditions are with a clean west swell, and the ideal wind direction is from the northeast. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters. K 365 is very consistent, with a wave often available year-round, and is best surfed on medium and high tides. On low tide, the kelp and shallow rocky ledge can make it tricky, but when the swell is right, the inside reef can produce a top-to-bottom tube. The spot is known for big open barrels and can get world class when the conditions line up. The wave likes a 5-8 foot groundswell and is best on glassy mornings with little wind. The spot is usually not crowded, but when it is, respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette. The spot is recommended for intermediate surfers. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions match your level. There are two theories about the name: one is that the wedging barrel is so round it’s 360 degrees plus another five, and the other is that there is a wave here 365 days of the year.
