Overview
About this Spot
Bujama is a surf spot located in Lima, Peru. The spot is found along the Panamericana Highway, between kilometers 85 and 90, where you turn at the sign for Bujama, follow the road to the left, pass through two tunnels, park your car, and walk south toward a hill to reach the wave. Bujama is a private beach and surfing is forbidden, but during the winter months it is possible to surf here. The spot needs a big swell to break and is often good when other beaches in the area are closing out. The surf spot provides left waves. The bottom is a mix of sand and rocks, and the best conditions are usually at low tide. The wave length is less than 50 meters and the spot is generally empty, so you might find little to no crowd. The surf here is considered a regional classic and is suitable for all levels, but the wave only breaks sometimes, so check the surf forecast and report before heading out. The area is exposed to strong and consistent waves, with heights that can reach 6 to 8 feet, and the rocky terrain can be a hazard both in and out of the water. Nearby surf spots include Totoritas, Mar Azul, Las Palmas, San Antonio, and La Ensenada. Always respect the locals, especially if the spot gets crowded, and make sure to follow surf etiquette. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. For more details, use a surf map or webcam to check current conditions before you go.
