Isla Mamey is a surf spot located on the Caribbean coast of Panama. The spot sits off the coast of the Portobelo district in Colón province and is accessible only by boat, with departures from Puerto Lindo. The boat ride takes about 10 minutes. Isla Mamey is a private island, and there is an entrance fee to access the area. The surf break is found on the western side of the island, where you will find a left-hand point break over a shallow coral reef and sand bottom. The wave length ranges from 50 to 150 meters and breaks best at high tide. The spot is known for its powerful and fast waves, and it is recommended for intermediate surfers. The surf spot is usually empty, but always check the surf etiquette and respect the locals, especially if the spot gets crowded. To get to the break, you need to walk about 5 minutes from the main area and enter the water from the rocks. The entry can be tricky and dangerous, so wearing surf shoes is advised.
