Tamri

Tamri is a surf spot located in South Morocco, about 60 kilometers north of Agadir and close to the mouth of the Oued Tamri river. The spot is easy to find if you drive from Taghazout towards Essaouira, passing Cap Rhir lighthouse, and look for the large banana plantations and the wide sandy beach. The beach has a sand bottom and offers several peaks, with the smaller days being good for beginners, especially on the inside sections, while the outside peaks and bigger days are better suited for more experienced surfers. The spot is known for its very consistent waves, so if other places in South Morocco are flat, Tamri usually has at least 1 meter or 3 feet of surf. The best conditions are with west, northwest, or north swells, and the minimum swell height for decent waves is about 2 feet. The best wind direction is from the east, southeast, or south. The waves break for about 50 to 150 meters. The spot provides both left and right waves. The beach is long and usually not crowded, but you should always respect the locals, especially when the spot gets busy, and check the surf etiquette. Be careful with your belongings in the parking area, as there have been reports of local kids trying to take things, especially in groups, and it is advised not to give them more than 5 dirham. Strong rip currents can form when the swell is over 2.5 to 3 meters, making it dangerous and harder to catch waves, so check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Boards suitable for Tamri include beginner and softboards, shortboards, mid and retro boards, and longboards. The spot works best at low and medium tide.
