About this Spot
French Baldie Slab is a surf spot located in South Morocco, Morocco. This surf spot is known for its heavy slab wave with a fat lip, breaking over a shallow rock formation, creating a fast right barrel. The wave direction is right, and it is best surfed at mid to high tide. The spot is characterized by its coral reef bottom, which makes it suitable for experienced surfers only, particularly those who are comfortable with challenging conditions. The wave length is less than 50 meters, and it is known to be a regional classic. The spot is not crowded, often empty, but localism is prevalent, and visitors are advised to respect the locals. The surf spot is named after an old bald French guy who advised against surfing there. Access to the spot can be challenging as it is not visible from the road. To reach the spot, you can park your car by the side of the road or further south on the dirt road intersection and walk to the location. You can access the spot from the exposed rocks on the right side or paddle straight out from the rock-scattered beach inside the small bay. The area offers beautiful scenery, and it is nice to watch from the top of the cliffs overlooking the cove. The spot is located near other surf spots such as Tamri, Boilers, Imsouane, La Cathedrale, and Killer. When planning a visit, it is important to check the surf forecast, report, map, and webcam for current conditions. Remember to check your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot matches your level. Respect the locals and always adhere to surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots.
