About this Spot

Las Salinas is a surf spot located in Baja North, Mexico. This spot provides both left and right waves. The bottom is sandy, and the best conditions are found at low and medium tides. The wave quality is considered a regional classic, and it is best suited for intermediate surfers. The waves here are very fast and hollow, which can be challenging, so it’s important to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. The surf spot is very consistent, with wave lengths ranging from 150 to 300 meters. The crowd is usually empty, providing plenty of space to catch waves. Nearby surf spots include Alisitos, La Fonda, Salsipuedes, Raul, and San Miguel. When visiting Las Salinas, it’s recommended to park your car next to Angel’s Cantina, where you can enjoy a drink after your session. The best waves can be found between the two jetties that extend out from the marina. Be cautious of the rip currents, as they can be strong and have taken unsuspecting swimmers out to sea. It’s advisable to bring a friend and a strong leash, especially during a northwest swell. The spot also catches south summer swells. It’s not ideal for longboarding. To reach Las Salinas, take the toll road going south from Rosarito to Ensenada and look for the sign that reads ‘Marina Las Salinas.’ The spot is approximately 73 kilometers along the way. Remember to respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette when the spot is crowded.
