Overview
About this Spot
Hideaway is a surf spot located in Fiji and Islands, Fiji. The spot sits right in front of Hideaway Resort on the Coral Coast, off Queens Hwy. To reach the break, you need to paddle about 250 meters across the lagoon, which can take more than 20 minutes, or you can use a boat. The surf spot provides right waves. The bottom is a coral reef, and the wave is fast and hollow, breaking quickly out of deep water onto a shallow section. The wave length is less than 50 meters. The best surf conditions are usually found at medium and high tide, with a southwest to southeast swell and north to northwest winds. The spot is considered a regional classic and is best suited for intermediate surfers. When the swell is above 1.8 meters (about 6 feet), the wave becomes more intense and the shallow reef can be dangerous, so bringing a helmet and a fin repair kit is recommended. Hazards include rocks, sea urchins, and strong rips in the narrow channel. The crowd is usually light, but when it gets busy, respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette. Check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and the conditions match your level. The people in the area are generally mellow and friendly. The nearest surf spots are Beachouse, Sigatoka Rivermouth, Pipes, Serua Rights, and Natadola Beach. For the latest surf forecast, surf report, map, and webcam, check reliable sources before heading out. Always be quick to your feet, set your rail, and pull in to make it through the fast tube sections, then race to the end and exit into deeper water. Make sure to look out for hazards and respect the environment.
