Overview
About this Spot
Grajagan is a surf spot located in Java, Indonesia. The surf spot provides left waves. It’s situated in Alas Purwo National Park on the southeastern coast of Java. G-Land, as it’s commonly known, is renowned for its exceptional left-hand reef breaks. The spot features several sections along a 2km long point, including Kongs, Money Trees, Launching Pads, and Speedies. These sections offer various wave characteristics, from big workable walls to fast hollow barrels. The waves break over a coral reef, becoming more critical as they progress down the point. G-Land is suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers due to its powerful waves and potential hazards. The spot is very consistent and can hold waves over 500 meters long. Typically, there are few surfers in the lineup. The prime surf season is from mid-April to mid-October, coinciding with the dry season and favorable wind conditions. Access to G-Land usually involves travel from Bali, including a ferry crossing to Java, an overland journey, and a boat ride to the surf camps. Surfers should be aware of potential hazards like sharp coral reefs, strong currents, and sea urchins. It’s advisable to wear protective gear like reef boots. The remoteness of the area means limited medical facilities, so caution is essential. Nearby surf spots include 20 20s, Tiger Tracks Lefts, Tiger Tracks, Red Island, and Medewi. When surfing G-Land, it’s important to respect the locals and check the surf etiquette. Always assess your skills before paddling out to ensure the spot and conditions match your surfing level. For up-to-date information, check the surf forecast, report, and map. Some surf camps in the area provide accommodation and facilities for visiting surfers.
