Overview
About this Spot
Shakespeares Point is a surf spot located in New South Wales, Australia, specifically inside Sydney Harbour. This unique location means that it only works on massive north to east swells, which come in through the heads, bounce off Mosman, and break on this point/reef setup. The wave at Shakespeares Point is not particularly special, often reaching shoulder height on a good day, but it is almost always very crowded. The wave is described as surging and crumbling, so bringing a bigger board is recommended. Despite the crowded conditions, the view from the spot is spectacular, offering a glimpse of the city skyline to the right. Surfers should be cautious of the end section, as there is an exposed stormwater drain on the left and a shark net on the right. Additionally, expect to encounter drop-ins frequently. Shakespeares Point is situated in Sydney Harbour National Park in Vaucluse, with plenty of car parking nearby. The spot features a rocky and sandy bottom, and the wave direction is right. It is suitable for surfers of all experience levels, but it rarely breaks and the wave length is less than 50 meters. Nearby surf spots include Vaucluse Bay, Vaucliff Reef, Lady Jane Bay, Kahnies, and Diamonds. It’s important to check the surf etiquette when surfing crowded spots and to check your skills before paddling out to make sure the spot and conditions fit your surfing level. Respect the locals.
