Overview
About this Spot
San Pedro is a surf spot located in Lima, Peru, in the district of Lurín, south of the city. The spot is part of the Cono Sur coastal area, which includes other beaches like Santa Rosa and Los Pulpos. San Pedro is known for its strong, powerful waves and a very consistent surf, making it a regional classic. The spot is mostly popular with bodyboarders due to the wave’s strength and the presence of a strong current, especially when the surf is up. Surfers with a big quiver and solid skills can try it, but there is a real risk of breaking boards. Beginners should avoid this spot and check their skills before paddling out, making sure the spot and conditions fit their surfing level. The bottom is sandy, and the spot works on all tides. The length of the ride is usually less than 50 meters. The water is very cold during winter, and the climate can be chilly, so a good wetsuit is recommended. The spot is generally empty, but when there are people, it is important to respect the locals and always check the surf etiquette, especially when the spot is crowded. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. Access to San Pedro is by driving south on the Panamericana Highway, turning right when you see the Pachacamac islands before the bridge to Lurín, then heading to the beach. The area is recognized for tourism, artisanal fishing, and marine gastronomy. In 2017, San Pedro was officially registered and protected as a surf break by the Peruvian Navy. Nearby surf spots include Conchan, Sol y Mar, Arica, Playa Los Pulpos, and Playa El Silencio. For the latest surf forecast, report, map, and webcam, check local surf resources before heading out.
