Overview
About this Spot
Conchan is a surf spot located in Lima, Peru, known for its consistent beach and jetty breaks. The spot sits under an industrial jetty and features three main peaks. On the south side of the jetty, there is the biggest wave, which breaks both left and right and can hold swells up to 8ft. North of the pier, another peak forms with left and right waves, and a little further north there is a right. The waves on the north side tend to close out when the swell is below this size. The bottom is sandy, and the best surf conditions are usually found at low and medium tide. The spot is exposed, so it gets reliable surf, especially during the winter months. The main swell comes from the southwest, and the best wind direction is from the northeast. The spot is considered a regional classic and is best suited for intermediate surfers. The length of the ride is generally less than 50 meters. Conchan can get crowded, especially when the surf is good, and bodyboarders are often present. Pollution can be an issue, so be aware of water quality. The take-off here is fast and hollow, but less critical than at some nearby spots. Always respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and check the surf etiquette before paddling out. Make sure to check your skills before paddling out, be sure that the spot and conditions match your level. Nearby surf spots include Sol y Mar, San Pedro, Villa, Arica, and Playa Los Pulpos.
