Osaki is a surf spot located in East Central Honshu, Japan, in Zushi City. The spot is known for its coral reef bottom and a mix of sand and boulders. Surfing at Osaki is best during typhoon swells, and the spot can handle any size of swell. The surf spot provides both left and right waves. The wave length is usually less than 50 meters, and the spot sometimes breaks, so it’s important to check the surf forecast and report before heading out. The best conditions are with a southeast swell and west wind, and the spot works on all tides. Swell sizes around 2 feet are common, but Osaki can also handle bigger swells from the northeast and south. The paddle out from Zushi Marina is long, taking more than 20 minutes, or you can reach the spot by boat. Parking is available at Zushi Marina for a fee, usually around 4000 yen per day. From the parking lot, Osaki is the point on the left. The spot is not usually crowded, but you might find more surfers during weekends or when the surf forecast looks good. Localism can be present, so respect the locals, especially when the spot is crowded, and always follow surf etiquette. If you are a foreigner, you may have fewer issues with locals, but it’s still important to be respectful. The area has rocks and sea urchins, so be careful when entering and exiting the water.
